Batch Size, Equipment Load & Lot Planning Calculator - Tablets
- Purpose: This calculator determines the tablet batch size, evaluates equipment loading and occupancy across manufacturing stages, and estimates the number of lots required based on process type, tablet characteristics, bulk densities, and defined equipment working limits, with clear calculation traceability and printable output.
- Enter the Product Name for identification and print records.
- Select the Process Type from the drop-down for Direct Compression or Wet Granulation as applicable.
- Select the Tablet Type from the drop-down for Uncoated or Coated tablets as applicable.
- Enter the Core Tablet Weight (mg/tab) and Lubricated Blend Bulk Density (g/cc).
- Enter the Coated Tablet Weight (mg/tab) if applicable.
- For Wet Granulation, enter:
- Dry Mix Quantity (mg/tab) and Dry Mix Bulk Density
- Wet Mix Quantity (mg/tab)
- Coated Tablet Bulk Density (g/cc) for coated tablets
- Enter the required Equipment Inputs and settings. Default values are for guidance and can be adjusted within approved limits:
- Rapid Mixer Granulator (RMG): Working Volume (L), Max Fill %, Min Fill %
- Fluid Bed Dryer / Processor (FBD/FBP): Working Capacity (kg), Max Fill %, Min Fill %
- Blender: Working Volume (L), Max Fill %, Min Fill %
- Tablet Press: Rotary Type, Number of Stations, Turret Speed (rpm), Tips per Punch
- Coater: Brim Volume (L), Pan Fill (Brim Volume) Max %, Pan Fill (Brim Volume) Min %
- Select the Display Unit (kg or Nos) for results.
- Select the Display Decimals to control precision of results.
- Click Calculate to generate batch size, equipment occupancy, and number of lots.
- Use Show Detailed Calculation to review step-by-step calculations.
- Use Print / Save as PDF to generate a report. Always review the printed report for correctness before use.
