Assay (as-is) for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient Calculator
- Purpose: This calculator converts API assay values reported on Dried / Anhydrous / Ignited basis into As-Is Assay (%). The calculated as-is assay is intended for accurate API weighing and downstream formulation or batch calculations. The tool also supports printable reports for documentation.
- Enter the API / Material Name for identification and print records.
- Select the Assay Basis exactly as mentioned in the Certificate of Analysis (COA).
- Enter the Assay (%) value as reported in the COA. Typical acceptable range is 98.0–102.0%. Values outside this range will be flagged, but calculation will continue.
- Enter corresponding values based on the selected basis:
- LOD (%) – Loss on Drying
- Water Content (%) – Generally determined by Karl Fischer (KF) method
- LOI (%) – Loss on Ignition
- Select the Output Decimals to control rounding. This affects display and print but does not change calculation accuracy.
- Click Calculate Assay (as-is) to obtain the As-Is Assay (%) for your API or material.
- Use Print / Save as PDF to generate a report. Always review the printed report for correctness before use.
